COMMUNITY CAST - be part of the show:
This is an exciting (and free!) opportunity for aspiring actors or those who simply love to perform to be in a professional production:
The Community Ensembles will take part in workshops/rehearsals, led by cast members.
You will take part in workshops/rehearsals, learning:
Short sections of the show, songs, a dance routine…you may even get some lines!
Then you will perform alongside the professional actors in the productions at your local venue.
The opportunity is open to anyone aged 11+

VOLUNTEER USHERS
We use a team of Volunteer Ushers at all our shows.
Ushers will help during arrival & departure of the audience & the interval, at our performances in local parks.
The team will meet the cast, get a behind the scene glimpse at a professional show & enjoy the show for free.
The role is completely flexible - you choose the dates you would like to volunteer & the venue which suits you. Travel expenses will be covered if required.

APPRENTICE SCHEME 2025
Apprentice Actor (18-24)

East London Shakespeare Festival is looking to engage 1 local young actor (Age 18-24) who has aspirations to go to/audition for drama school and/or pursue acting professionally.

Full cast member/s and rehearse alongside the professional cast, obtaining a professional credit - please see dates below, we can offer flexibility with rehearsals but you would be required for all performance dates.

ELSF will provide the Apprentice Actor four sessions of free tutoring/mentoring/training/audition prep to support their aspirations i.e. applying/auditioning to drama school, securing an agent, professional auditions.

We’re offering an exciting apprenticeship opportunity for someone eager to gain hands-on experience in stage management, production, front-of-house, and company management within a professional outdoor touring theatre production of As You Like It. This role is designed for someone at the beginning of their career, providing invaluable on-the-ground training and mentorship.
About the Role
As our Apprentice Stage Manager, FOH & Company Manager, you’ll work closely with the producer, creative team, and cast to:

Assist Stage Manager: stage management tasks during rehearsals and performances, including supporting with get-ins, get-outs, and prop/costume management.

Support and assist the Producers acting as a liaison between the company, venues, and production team while on tour

Assist with Front of House (FOH) duties on performance days, ensuring a welcoming audience experience and assisting with pre-show activities.

Help tech setup (e.g. PA system, lights) and assist with packing down the set after each show.
This is a practical, hands-on role where you’ll learn about the mechanics of small-scale outdoor touring theatre, gaining a comprehensive understanding of theatre production.
What We’re Looking For

Enthusiasm, reliability, and a can-do attitude.

A genuine interest in stage management, producing, and/or company management.

Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Strong organisational and communication skills.

Willingness to get involved in all aspects of the production.

(Bonus but not essential) A valid driver’s license and confidence driving a small van.

Fee: £1,676.10 (based on Apprentice London Living Wage for the full contract).

You’ll work approximately 25 hours per week across rehearsals, performances, and tour days.

Any additional driving hours (if applicable) will be paid separately at £13.85 p/hr.
